Zirconia Veneers

For many of our clients, porcelain veneers are the right fit. They can help mask any underlying tooth discoloration, and they can make a person’s smile that much better. Dr. Mobasser has used them for many years to help people look their very best. Tried, tested and true, these veneers have given so many the confidence they were looking for. However, Dr. Mobasser is always looking for new ways to improve his patients’ smiles. As technology advances, new techniques and materials become available. One kind of veneer that’s becoming more and more popular is the zirconia veneer. Zirconia veneers are stronger than regular porcelain veneers, feldspar porcelain, and E max Veneers and might be the right fit for you.

Why Zirconia Veneers?

Zirconia Porcelain is the hardest and strongest porcelain available. It is not for everyone. It is very hard to adjust the length or the bite once these zirconia veneers are seated in the mouth. Per Dr Mobasser, it is highly recommended that the patient wanting these Zirconia crystal veneers to approve the wax up, the shape, the length, before they are crafted in the specialty Dental Laboratory.

For Patients wanting Hollywood White smile, these veneers are highly recommended, since no porcelain veneer material is as reflective and white like zirconia porcelain. They also can give you the whitest bright smile. They can mask 95% of dark discolored teeth (Before we used to use porcelain fused to metal CROWNS to do that). However if you do want to have a natural white veneers, you can go with Emax veneers, or possibly adding translucent color, by cutting back zerconia veneers and adding different layered porcelain to tone down the bright white color.

How Veneers Work

The dictionary definition of “veneer” includes “a superficially valuable or pleasing appearance.” That’s part of what our porcelain veneers can do. They can give you a far more valuable or pleasing appearance for your teeth and smile. Generally they cover the front surface of your teeth. Veneers from Dr. Mobasser last a long time, he has over 35 years of experience and knowledge with veneers. As you may have heard, cosmetic dentistry is as much an art as it is a science. Fortunately, Dr. Mobasser is as much a scientist as he is an artist. So, he’s able to bring the merge the best in technical craftsmanship with an eye towards aesthetic beauty. This can come in quite handy for each of his patients when it comes to porcelain veneers.

As he has seen, on patients who want to redo their veneers by him, there was no artistry in regards to shape, the color, and in many occasions the veneers have been placed over red inflamed gums, in which caused recurrent decay and constant bleeding. Prior to having zirconia veneers there is specific protocol that Dr mobasser follows first by making the foundation of your teeth healthy, and then addressing your cosmetic needs. In some occasions he may do a mockup in your mouth and in other occasions a full wax up is required from his private master ceramist to show you what you are going to attain . For many people, zerconia veneers can raise their self esteem, to give them the smile makeover that they were looking for. However, Dr. Mobasser can use any kind of porcelain veneers, and possibly combine them to give you what you want. It will be brighter, whiter, basically the potential of your current smile can be designed by him and his team of master ceramist to give you your dream smile.

Zirconia Veneers Pros and Cons

For many people, zirconia is a word they know only from jewelry. You may have heard of “cubic zirconia” or something similar. Obviously, it’s a bit different when it comes to your teeth. These veneers are incredibly strong. In fact, they’re some of the strongest dental materials available. Considered to essentially be fracture resistant, you won’t’ have to worry about these veneers breaking in your mouth. While many other kinds of veneers may be quite strong, there’s very little that’s quite as strong as these zirconia veneers.

When people ask us: “How long do zirconia crystal veneers last”?

The answer is ”we do not have enough research behind them.” These veneers have a fracture toughness of 600 to 800 MPa. You don’t have to know what those numbers mean or what that acronym stands for to know that’s one of the toughest ratings available. These veneers can be designed to ultra thin, thickness. When they’re in your mouth, no one will know, unless you are requesting a super Hollywood white color. So, you don’t have to worry that someone will be able to tell that you have veneers, or that you’ve had some kind of work done. Of course, when you have a beautiful smile, you’ll want to share it with the world, that you are full of joy.

Per Dr Mobasser, since cubic zirconia veneers are fairly new, there is not much research behind zirconia veneers, the most research we have is 3 to 4 years. They require SPECIFIC SPECIAL Bonding PROTOCOL, in order to bond with your teeth, and that is the weak link, in which they may debond. Meaning they might come out, compared to feldspar or emax porcelain. However as far as wanting the whitest color possible for your teeth, Zirconia veneers beats the pants off any other porcelain material.

How Much is Zirconia crystal Veneers?

Cubic Zirconia veneers cost more than any other veneers, Zerconia crystal veneers cost even more than Zerconia crowns, because of the specific sensitive protocol needed to bond them to the teeth. Zerconia crowns can be cemented to the tooth, however zerconia veneers can not be cemented, since they will come off, these veneers must be bonded with a specific protocol. They are very hard to adjust once they are in the mouth, and any final contouring is extremely time consuming. To redo a zirconia veneers is extremely time consuming for the patient and the doctor. The shape of zerconia veneers can not be altered as easily compared to other veneers, but the white color, they reflect beats any other veneer, by far.

Zirconia Veneers Cement

One of the cons to veneers made of zirconia is that they don’t exactly bond to the teeth themselves. See, zirconia is what’s called an “oxide-based substrate.” Zirconia can’t fuse and bond to the tooth easily, like other porcelains available. It requires an interface made out of cement, which currently, according to dentists using these veneers, for 3 to 4 years of research, they are performing well, however some have fallen out also which was recemented.

This is an entirely different kind of cement. It’s just as ultra thin as everything else related to veneers with specific chemistry. The Celebrity Dentist himself, Dr. Mobasser, only uses the best cements with research behind them, in all of his zirconia products. That means that they’re light, self-curing, hydrophobic and more. Zirconia may be new to many in the field of cosmetic dentistry, but it isn’t new to Dr. Mobasser. He has been working with it essentially since it was discovered that these could be made into top notch veneers. Now, Dr. Mobasser can use that experience for you.

Reasonable crystal Zirconia Veneers Price?
Even the phrase “veneers made out of cubic Zirconia” sounds expensive. With dental veneers, as with essentially everything else in life, you get what you pay for. Veneers made out of zirconia are no different. Indeed, the zirconia veneers price is considered higher than that of other kinds of veneers. Often, Dr. Mobasser offers them for a price of around three thousand dollars a tooth and up.

While it’s natural to balk at that price, it’s important to keep in mind that these veneers do not break. Indeed, the durability a big part of what drivers the zirconia veneers cost up so high.
